Emergencies
For emergencies your safety is of paramount importance.
For GAS escape, please refer to information here or call the gas emergency service 0800 111 999. If possible isolate the gas supply at the meter control valve. Do not use naked flames or electrical switches as this may cause an explosion. Open doors and windows. If you cannot stop the smell of gas, then evacuate the premises as soon as possible.

For water leak, try to turn off water supply at your mains stop cock if possible (for more information see here). If your property has stored cold water, then you may be able to turn off the supply with valves near to the cold water storage tank (often in the loft). In any case please call us as soon as possible so that we may repair the problem for you - see our contact information.

For leaks outside your property, this is often the responsibility of the local water board. Usually it is the property owners responsibility for all pipes after the main stop cock.

Tenants - usually you should try to contact your landlord (or their agents) if there is a water leak (or any other problem that requires a plumber) in the property and have him arrange to send a plumber. If you call us out we will charge you for the work and you will have to arrange to get reimbursed by the landlord. We will not attend to a problem and bill the landlord, unless we have an agreement in place in advance with the landlord (or their agents) to do so.

Mains Stop Cock
Mains stop cocks are vital in that they provide the ability to isolate mains water coming into your property, especially in case of emergency such as a leak. You should know where your stopcock is located, and it should be turned off and on again at least once a year to ensure that it is working correctly. Usually once stop cock is fully off, you should turn it back just a little (around a quarter turn), this is to ensure that the it doesn't 'lock shut'. If you cannot find you stop cock, or you cannot turn it off then please give us a call and we will be glad to assist.
